Program details
Immerse yourself in the ancient streets of Oxford, home to the oldest University in Britain, on a bus ride that will take you past all the city’s wonders. Throughout the trip, enjoy great views of its honey-coloured buildings and of the busy, academic courtyards in its many Colleges. Some of these, such as Worcester College, St. Peter’s College or Brasenose College, are true architectural wonders.
The ride is hop on-hop, so you can enjoy the city by stopping at the places most interesting to you. You won’t want to miss the award-winning Oxford Castle Heritage area. You’ll also be taken to historic areas such as the Carfax junction.
Learn more about the city’s history at Pitt Rivers Museum, William Morris’ Original Workshop or at the Bodleian Library. Admire Hertfore Bridge, unofficially known as The Bridge of Sighs due to its similarity to the Venetian bridge of the same name. If you’re a shopaholic, get your shopping done at the Covered Market or as Westgate Shopping Centre. Or if you’re looking for something more relaxing, take a stroll along the River Thames Walk, lounge next to the Oxford Canal or visit the Botanic Gardens.
When choosing where to dine, you’ll be spoilt for choice: Oxford is full of interesting inns like The Eagle and Child Pub, where an informal literary group called The Inklings often gathered. You can spend the evening at a pub, dancing in a club or even watching a live music performance at The New Theatre, The Sheldonian Theatre or The Play House Theatre.
