Tucked into a placid corner of the Cannaregio area, this walk explores the enduring legacy of the world's first Jewish ghetto. Begin the walk by stepping into the ghetto, the home of the Jewish Venetian community. May also have the chance to meet the owner of a local kosher bakery, and enjoy a taste of the beautiful, lace-like flatbread known as pane azzime (Venetian matzoh). The Jewish community in Venice is still alive and thriving; thus, the walk offers the opportunity to interact with the new generation of scholars and devotees, as well as exploring the history and customs of a little known aspect of Venetian culture.
