This magnificent part of the Queen of the Adriatic is often ignored by visitors, yet it contains some portentous landmarks that make a visit well worth your time. That plus the fact that you get away from the heavily touristic city centre guarantee to make it a pleasurable experience that will make all the difference in your visit to this most beautiful of European cities.

Your discovery of the wonders beyond the Grand Canal begins by crossing the spectacular Rialto Bridge. This breath-taking construction, elegantly made of marble, connects the two sides of the Grand Canal. The pale stone shimmers beautifully as it reflects the flowing waters below.

Once on the other side, have a meander round the area and discover the many stunning squares that are scattered around. The three most famous ones are the Campo San Polo, the Campo Santa Margherita and the Campo San Barnaba. Your knowledgeable guide will tell you the stories, myths and legends behind all the most significant corners of the City of Water; stories that make Venice such an endlessly fascinating place.

Wrap up your day with a trip on Venice’s signature ride: step onto an elegant black gondola and lose track of your senses as you slowly glide along the smooth waters of the canals and contemplate the sunset.

Meeting/ Pick up point: In front of the white marble Accademia di Belle Arti (Venetian Academy of Fine Arts) near the Accademia Bridge and the Accademia vaporetto (waterbus) stop. “ACCADEMIA DI BELLE ARTI” is written across the top and “GALLERIE” is written over the door. Your coordinator will be wearing a blue Dark Rome polo shirt or jacket for easy recognition.
