Program details
Explore one of the most beautiful cities in the world with this walking tour of fabulous Florence. A living art gallery, Florence is famed for being the cradle of the Renaissance and its rich heritage. Admire the city's impressive architecture and learn about its golden age, when the wealthy Medici family funded some of the most important art ever created, commissioning the likes of Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Botticelli.
Wander through sunny squares and shady side streets where there is something delightful to discover at every turn. Stroll through the Piazza Repubblica and, from the exterior, explore the extraordinary architecture of Brunelleschi’s Duomo, Florence’s breathtaking medieval cathedral. Admire the gilded Gates of Paradise that lead to the Baptistery and behold the largest brick dome ever constructed. Then stop at the extraordinary Palazzo Vecchio, the town hall, and admire the exterior of this vast palace with crenelated battlements. Discover also Piazza della Signoria and the Loggia dei Lanzi.
Finally, jump the queues and enjoy one of the oldest and most famous art museums in the world, the Uffizi. Simply unparalleled in terms of architectural splendour as well as the incredible Renaissance art it houses, the gallery was constructed from 1560 under the capable direction of the founder of art history, Georgio Vasari, who reported in his book Lives of the Artists that Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo would regularly visit the gallery for inspiration. The tour finishes on a high, enjoying a beautiful view of the city from the Uffizi terrace.
