Come with us on a tour of one of the most famous art galleries in the world, the Accademia Gallery, which features on every visitor’s itinerary in Florence. It’s home to the world revered statue of David, Michelangelo’s most famous masterpiece, as well as other works of art that you can spend hour after hour admiring.



Built to house Renaissance works of art, the Accademia Gallery boasts masterpieces by Michelangelo and other artists that will bowl you over with their beauty and detail. The focal point of any visit is the perfectly situated statue of David in the Tribune, where the light and perfectly proportioned statue is a thing of beauty that no visitor forgets.



Also displayed in the gallery you can find other important statues such as Michelangelo’s Prisoners and St Matthew and paintings by Sandro Botticelli, Domenico Ghirlandaio, Pontormo, Andrea del Sarto, Allessando Allori and Perugino, as well as the original plaster of ‘Rape of Sabine Women’ by Giambologna. At the end of the tour you are free to stay inside the museum until closing time.
