Dazu Stone Carvings’Grottoes represent a beautiful gem in the treasure trove of grotto arts in China. In 1961, they appeared on the list of the first group of important cultural relics under state protection as announced by the State Council and in 1999 they were inscribed on the World Cultural Heritage List by the UNESCO. They provide outstanding evidence of the harmonious synthesis of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. Sightseeing includes monumental Buddhist sculptures at Beishan and Baodingshan.
