Horse ride at dune park

General information

Destination
Huelva, Spain

Program details

The route starts from the facilities located at the Dune Park Matalascañas from there we move through this park that consists of pine forests and scrub typical Doñana up to the first fossil dunes Asperillo. Continue climbing up the dunes to reach one of the highest points in Doñana, with about 100 meters above sea level. The sands are stabilized in this section by a peculiar vegetation adapted to these conditions, such as juniper, juniper, camarinas, gorse, etc…

Once in the dunes move seaward to the edge of the cliffs of sandstone colors where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean and the entire coastline of Doñana both left and right. Once there is continued by a sandy path between native vegetation to a point where there is a ramp down in sand leads directly to the beach. We went down to the shore as the sea, strolling through it for about 20 minutes for a virgin beach from where you can see the base of the cliffs through which we have gone before. Finally we return back to the Equestrian Center in the same place. In total about 5-6km are crossed. During the tour the equestrian guide will explain different aspects and curiosities of the area visited.

The rides are 2 hours. No need to know riding for the activity. The walks are suitable for all audiences and ages, provided they reach the stirrups (very young children cannot ride so we put the limit at 5-6 years and minimum height of 110 cm) and a person can only go horse as by law (you cannot bring small children with an adult on the same horse: it is forbidden for safety).

Start/opening time: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, at 6pm.

End/closing time: At 8pm.
