Program details
Visit Cordoba’s cream of the crop in a four hour walking tour. Delve into the historical, monumental and cultural side of the world famous Jewish quarter and the breathtaking Fortress of Christian Monarchs, the Great Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba and the Synagogue.
Start the tour at the Fortress and Palace of Christian Monarchs where Ferdinand and Isabela reigned for eight years, and fall head over heels in love with the blend of Roman and Visigoth ruins standing side by side with Arabic remains. Discover Roman mosaics, Arabic baths and courtyards brimming with colourful flowers, fragrant herbs and mature trees. You’ll especially find the Mudejar style courtyard attractive with its marble floors and airy bright gardens.
Continue on to the Mudejar style Synagogue built in 1315, and into the dense network of charming streets that weave through the Jewish quarter. We save the best ‘til last, and the final visit is to the Unesco World Heritage Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba. Be charmed by its ornate columns and horseshoe arches, and you’ll discover exactly why it’s considered a top example of Muslim art in Spain. The cathedral was built over nine centuries and as a result contains a fascinating mixture of architectural styles unlike any other. Soak up the sweet aroma of oranges in the Courtyard of the Orange Trees and be swept away by the beauty of Cordoba.
