Program details
The legendary O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat is situated in the heart of the Lamington National Park with spectacular panoramic views of the McPherson Ranges. The scenic drive will take us via picturesque Tamborine Mountain’s shopping precinct through the township of Canungra, the fertile Canungra Valley and army training grounds before climbing 1,000 metres through subtropical rainforest to the scenic Treetop Walk at O'Reilly's. En route we visit the Alpaca Farm with its unique retail outlet and quality alpaca products, finer than cashmere. Along the road, spot pretty faced wallabies, exotic birds and if you are lucky, a koala!
Lamington National Park is a Unesco World Heritage Site that sits on the Lamington Plateau of the McPherson about 110 kilometres north of Brisbane. The park is renowned for its natural magnificence, waterfalls, rainforests, trails, mountain views, birdlife and aged trees and is part of World Heritage Site Gondwana Rainforests of Australia and part of the Scenic Rim Important Bird Area because of its importance in the conservation of several species of threatened birds. Most of it lays at 900 metres above sea level and 30 kilometres away from the Pacific's ocean coast. Beech trees and bowerbirds from this park were featured in the famous television series, Life on Earth, by David Attenborough.
