The architecture of San Marco Museum is spellbinding in itself. Consecrated in 1443, it served as a Dominican convent designed by one of the greatest architects of the Renaissance, Michelozzo, and commissioned by Cosimo I de 'Medici. Join our skip the line guided tour of the museum and explore the fascinating history, halls and frescoes that adorn the museum.


The tour begins in the elegant cloister of St Anthony, the centre of peace and spirituality in monastic life. Admire the frescoed lunettes of the doors that lead to the ancient halls that play host to wonderful woodwork and frescoes by Beato Angelico. Continue to the Great Refectory, kitchen and service area displaying paintings by Fra Bartolomeo, a Dominican monk and painter who lived in the convent. The Small Refectory also shows you a fresco depicting the Last Supper by Domenico Ghirlandaio.


Proceed upstairs to the must-see frescoes by Beato Angelico, one of the greatest exponents of Florentine Renaissance. The tour ends in the suggestive ambience of the Library, famous for the incomparable purity of its Renaissance architecture.
