The Alhambra is the focal point of Granada overlooking the city atop a one inaccessible hill. It was originally built as a fortress in 899 before being converted into a Royal Palace by Yusuf I, Sultan of Granada.
Wander through the old fortress, known as La Alcazaba, with an audio guide navigator exploring the Royal Palace Complex with its ornate courts, patios and halls. Also included is access to the Generalife Palace and Gardens which were used as a summer palace and retreat by the Nazrid emirs of Granada. Admire the Patio de la Acequia with its long pools framed by flowerbeds, fountains, colonnades and pavilions, as well as the Sultana's Garden, thought to be inspired by the style of medieval Persian Gardens.
