Program details
Savour the best Menorca has to offer during this visit to the beautiful Binifadet Winery in Sant Lluis. It has been one of the island’s most sought-after attractions ever since it opened its doors to visitors a decade ago. This guided tour and tasting offers both a fascinating insight into how wine is produced and just why it is such an integral part of Menorcan culture.
Located in the outskirts of the picturesque village of Sant Lluis, the Binifadet Winery has been producing wine since the late Seventies but opened its doors to the public only in 2004 following the completion of a state-of-the-art visitor centre. It is on two levels: the upper one is dedicated to making the wine, the terrace and the shop; the bottom one is where the wine is aged, bottled and labelled. One of the standout features of Binifadet wines is the labels, which use the same font that the Barcelona opera house used for its posters a century ago.
The guided tour of the winery lasts about 25 minutes and covers everything involved in the production of wine from the grape vine to the dinner table. Afterwards, you can choose two wines to taste and enjoy some of the winery’s own marinated goat’s cheese and wine-based preserves. There are few better feelings that sitting in the veranda looking over the vineyard and savouring the taste of Menorca while soaking in the warm Mediterranean sun. From June to September the terrace is open from 9am until midnight.
