This collection is owned by the
Medici and Lorraine families, two very wealthy and influential families that appear in many pages of the history books of Florence; whose history is deeply entwined with that of the city. Join us on this exciting tour and enrich your knowledge of European art while at the same time strolling through a magnificent building simply brimming with interesting historical facts.
This gallery is located on the noble floor of the
Pitti Palace, one of Florence’s most iconic buildings, whose hulking stony structure is imposing yet beautiful. As you delve into the tastefully decorated halls of the gallery, you will at all times be accompanied by a
charming and knowledgeable guide who will enrich your experience thanks to their eloquent explanations of the fascinating history behind every object you encounter and corner you turn. The masterpiece collection, mostly dating from the Renaissance and the Baroque periods, includes works of art painted by the deft hands of Raphael, Titian, Rubens, Caravaggio and Tintoretto, as well as Flemish artists such as Van Dyck.
To top off your day, with your ticket you will also obtain access to the Royal Apartments where the Savoys, the royal family of Italy, used to live.
