Discover both the natural and man-made aspects of the beautiful city of Cairns on this half-day guided tour. Learn the history of Cairns city as you explore its busy wharves and industrial areas then contrast this with a visit to the tranquil Flecker Botanic Gardens.
The park contains an amazing collection of tropical plants including exotic herbs, spices, valuable timber trees, orchids, fruits, bromeliads, giant bamboo and many other spectacular flowering plants, the gardens are fascinating and with your knowledgeable guide you will learn a great deal. Here you may also observe some of the native the wildlife including many interesting bird species.
A visit to St Monica’s Cathedral enables you to see the world’s largest themed stained glass peace windows held within it and you can also take in the panoramic hillside views from the best lookouts available. Indulge in a Devonshire Tea served with tea, coffee or hot chocolate and scrumptious scones. Afterwards, enjoy a walk at the lower section of the Barron Gorge National Park and delight in the beautiful rugged mountains, ravines and tumbling waterfalls. At the award-winning showroom of the Outback Opal Mine find out how Opal Gougers work and how Opal is formed, cut and polished. View an eight-minute mining documentary and enjoy an informative tour through a simulated mine. Concluding the tour is a walk along the Palm Cove jetty or a stroll along the beach.
