Escape the crowded beach resorts for a day and discover the real Bulgaria, far from the tourist trail. You’ll see medieval villages, colourful churches and beautiful mountain scenery, and get the chance to admire traditional handicrafts.

The first stop on this full-day excursion will be the charming mediaeval village of Zheravna with its ramshackle wooden houses and narrow cobbled streets.

There we will go on a sightseeing tour – the visit will include the Church of St. Nikolai. You will also have the chance to purchase some local handicrafts.

Then, we’ll drive on through the foothills of the Balkan Mountains towards the town of Sliven. The more adventurous can take a chair-lift ride at the Sinite Kamani (Blue Rocks) Nature Park in the midst of amazing rock formations and numerous watercourses surrounded by beech forests. In Sliven itself, we will stop for a delicious four-course lunch consisting of local specialities (a vegetarian option is available) as well as a bottle of wine per person.

After lunch, there will be time to explore this charming traditional town before leaving for a visit to the Genger Ethnographic Complex at Aytos, where you can admire a different traditional Bulgarian arts and crafts shops as well as traditional taverns, cafés and restaurants.

We will return to the resort in the late evening. This full-day excursion includes lunch with wine and the services of a knowledgeable English-speaking guide.
