Program details
Take a road trip along the spectacular Sea to Sky Highway to the winter wonderland of Whistler and the stunning Shannon Falls. Travel along winding Route 99 among vast ocean vistas and soaring blue mountains as you travel north to the pretty resort town of Whistler, which made a picturesque backdrop to many events in the 2010 Winter Olympics.
On the way up, stop at Shannon Falls, a 335-metre (1,000ft) waterfall cascading down among old growth forest into Howe Sound. Whether frozen solid in winter, roaring and raging on a rainy autumn day, or casting cooling spray over hot summer visitors, the falls are guaranteed to impress. Thundering into Howe Sound, carved by glaciers during the last ice age, Shannon Falls are a popular picnic spot and a starting point for the hike up the towering Stawamus Chief.
Then it’s on to Whistler, where alpine chalets and towering peaks only need a dusting of snow to become a Christmas card scene. You’re free to stroll through the peaceful village, shop, and soak up the small town atmosphere. Your guide can advise on a range of activities. Visit the lakes, go mountain biking or ziplining, or take a trip in a ski gondola up to the peaks for sensational views. If you’re lucky catch the farmers' market with its selection of arts, crafts and delicious cakes. Float back down to earth on your way home to arrive in Vancouver in the evening.
