Program details
Enjoy the broadest and most insightful way to discover one of America's most fascinating cities with the Chicago grand tour and a visit to the Hancock Tower. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, after the Great Chicago Fire, the city was rebuilt in the largest building boom in the history of the nation, including the creation of the world’s first skyscraper. Many architects have clamored to leave their mark on the spectacular Chicago skyline, and their efforts can be appreciated in our comprehensive tour around America’s Second City.
The John Hancock Centre was, at the time of its creation in 1968, the tallest building outside of New York City. It is at the heart of Michigan Avenue and allows panoramic views of not only the city of Chicago but its stunning skyline, the magnificent shoreline of Lake Michigan and a horizon that boasts the view of four surrounding states and an astonishing 130 kilometre distance. Ride the lift to the incredible height of 340 metres of one of the most famous structural expressionist style buildings before stepping out to admire a unique vantage point of such famous buildings as the Willis Tower, the CAN Tower, the Mid Continental Plaza, Buckingham Fountain and The Heritage at Millenium Park.
The Grand Tour of Chicago ensures that you pass and learn about these impressive buildings, before witnessing all three of Chicago’s most famous parks; Washington Park, Grant Park and the Lincoln Park, named after one of Chicago’s most famous residents.
