Program details
Live and breathe Chile’s great outdoors with this spellbinding private tour of the Pacific coast, visiting the Bosques de Fray Jorge National Park and the legendary Enchanted Valley. This scenic tour has something for everyone who loves the great outdoors from vast expanses of ocean to verdant woods and isolated landscapes.
Visit the resorts of Totoralillo, Las Tacas and Morrillos and then take a detour to reach Bosque Fray Jorge national park, which lies close to the Atacama Desert in the Cordillera de Talinay part of the Chilean Coastal Range. The park is bordered by the Limarí River on the south.
The Fray Jorge forests are green ‘oases’ surrounded by semi-arid lands and as a result, rainforests cover only a small proportion of the park. The fog coming from the Pacific stops over the foothills and dampens the vegetation, allowing the survival of the hydrophilic flora in the middle of a semiarid landscape characterized by scrubby vegetation. Species of vegetation found in these settings include: Peruvian pepper, azara celastrina, lithraea venenosa, porlieria chilensis, olivillo, sarmienta scandens and griselinia scandens. A large number of small animals live there such as degu, chinchilla, foxes, the Chilean tinamou and the long-tailed meadowlark.
You will enjoy your lunch in a typical restaurant. After lunch we will travel along a rural road that leads to the Enchanted Valley, an outdoors museum of cultural and scientific interest. At this site there's a variety of geoglyphs (ancient art on rocks).
