Admire the delicate beauty of some of the most colourful creatures in the planet at the Butterfly Park, a spellbinding park dedicated to these wonderful insects.
The Butterfly Park is the biggest such park in Europe and is home to more than 1,500 butterflies made up of over 20 species from all over the world. And the colour isn’t just provided by the butterflies, a wealth of plant life adds to the tropical charms of the Butterfly Park.
Children will have a ball as the butterflies zip around them, some even landing on them.
You will learn how a butterfly is born and find out what species is responsible for the biggest butterflies. Each species needs a specific plant to lay its eggs in, and this is what caterpillars feed on. This is known as the host plant. This close relationship between butterfly and plant is the result of millions of years of evolution. Females must find and recognise their host plants among the great botanical diversity of the tropical forests. The survival of their offspring depends upon this and to make them feel at ‘home’, we have brought in plants from their natural habitats in faraway jungles in Bali, Costa Rica, Thailand.
A butterfly’s lifespan is a mere two to three weeks. Every day some are born at the park and some die, so you will be able to witness their entire lifecycle during your visit.
You can even witness their first flight after the metamorphosis from ugly caterpillar to beautiful butterfly. Redeem informationVoucher type: Printed
