Cadiz is one of the oldest cities in Western Europe, founded by Phoenician traders 3000 years ago as a commercial stronghold. Since then the city has seen waves of invaders come and go including Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Arabs and Spaniards. This visit will give you an idea of the history of this fascinating city, visiting the Archaeological Site at Casa del Obispo.
The archeological site Casa del Obispo offers us the opportunity to learn much of the history of Cadiz through their remains. An exciting ride for over 1500 m2 through hidden in the "innards" of the old episcopal palace of Cadiz, where visitors check, directly through glass floors and digital reconstructions with time, the evolution of the city from the eighth century BC until the eighteenth century.
It was a place of worship of different civilizations; whose starting point was a major Phoenician funerary monument. During Roman times it was a resort to cults to Apollo, Asclepius and Hygia (Asklepieion) gods. In the sixteenth century Bishop García de Haro makes episcopal residence. This space has become an essential cultural reference for all types of visitor.
