Bodegas Diez Meritos are one of the most renowned producers of Sherry and no visit to Jerez de la Frontera would be complete without a visit to their iconic wine cellars, one of the landmarks of this city of wine. In this fascinating guided tour, you’ll explore the bodegas in the company of an expert sherry specialist as you learn all about the different processes going towards the production of this liquid gold and then get to try some for yourself.
The bodegas are located in a magnificent building dating back to the 1790s, the Bodegas Bertemati, named after one of its first owners the Marques de Misa. In this guided visit to the cellar, we’ll visit the different patios, gardens and the impressive cellar here the wine is aged in massive oak barrels. It is here that one of the world’s oldest wines is kept, the prestigious Fino Imperial, whose supports and nurseries date back to 1876.
One of our resident experts will tell you all about the complex process known as solera through which the wines and brandies are produced. Then at the end of the tour you will have the opportunity to sample three different Sherries from the cellars for yourself. A must for all wine lovers!
