Program details
This full day tour of Provence is packed with activities and sights to behold. See the Triumphal Arch in Orange and taste wines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, then go to the Pont du Gard and the picturesque mountain villages of Les Baux de Provence, Gordes and Roussillon during this scenic and historic tour.
The first port of call is Orange, where you will discover the Roman Triumphal Arch, a symbol of imperial glory. Take a tour of the Antique Theatre built during the time of August Caesar, the first emperor of Rome. Travelling through the region of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, you stop for some wine tasting at one of the wineries. Then discover the fascinating history of a famous house and stop in at the traditional shop located here where you will find a wide range of wines and Provençal specialities. Be awed by the ancient Roman aqueduct bridge known as Pont du Gard classified by Unesco as the most well-preserved Roman aqueduct. Follow this with a walk in the historical pedestrian centre of the glorious medieval village Les Baux de Provence in the Alpilles Mountains.
Winding up a big day is a visit to the stunning villages of Gordes and Roussillon perched upon the rocky mountains on the Plateau de Vaucluse. Gordes is famous for its architecture with dry stones while the ochre-red village of Roussillon is famous for its red rocks, red stone buildings and red tile roofs.
