Cruise into some of the Mediterranean’s clearest blue water and spectacular scenery on this sailing trip to Gramvoussa Island and Balos Lagoon. With crystal clear sea and white sandy beaches you are forgiven for momentarily thinking that you have left Europe behind and ended up in the Caribbean. Once a pirate hideout, Gramvoussa is crowned by a splendid, half-ruined Venetian Castle. Explore the castle and take in the views before heading to Tigani beach and the shallow Balos Lagoon to relax and swim in the warm waters of this miniature paradise.


Set sail from Kastelli on Crete’s northwest coast and make your way around the Gramvoussa peninsula. Be sure to have your camera at the ready as you pass towering cliff faces and caves in the rocks before docking at Gramvoussa Island. Here you have the option of staying on deck, soaking up the sun and diving into the water or making the trek up to the intriguing ruins of the Venetian castle that sits atop this island. The views over the island from the castle make the trek well worth the effort.


Then proceed to Tigani beach back on the peninsula. Lapped by the beautiful Balos Lagoon, the shallow waters of this beach seem like they were designed for splashing, swimming and snorkeling without a care in the world. Relax in this idyllic setting as you enjoy the warm water, fine sand and incredible mix of blue and green colours before heading back to Kastelli.
