With inviting countryside right on your doorstep, come and discover Crete’s mountain scenery. Walk along a five mile ravine passing mountain villages perched on the hillsides and take a well-deserved dip in the sea at the end!


You’ll be picked up from your hotel and taken to the southwestern corner of the island towards the village of Imbros. Drive over the peaks of the White Mountains on the way, winding your way along the contours of these dramatic peaks before reaching our starting point of the hike. From Imbros we set off on a two to three hour hike following footpaths and cobbled trails into the dark depths of the Imbros Gorge. Shaded from the Cretan sun, the gorge provides a welcome relief as well as stunning viewpoints.


As the trail narrows into a two metre passageway with steep 300ft walls either side of you, reach for your camera and capture the most spectacular section. Watch out for the wild goats as you go and once we reach the village of Kommitades you’ll see the sparkling enticing sea stretching out in front of you. Relax with a drink at a local taverna before continuing on to Frangokastello, famous for its 14th century Venetian castle. Enjoy some free time for a swim in the sea or to have lunch before heading back to your hotel.


Meeting/pick-up point: Pick up at the hotel.
Start/opening time: Between 7:50-8:30am.
End/closing time: Return to the hotels between 7-8pm.
