The tour starts with a visit to the Prostitutes’ Collective Information Centre. Here a former prostitute will explain how the system works as you enjoy a drink. Any questions you have will be most welcome.



The Red Light District, or Wallen as it is known to locals, is situated to the south of the Central Station and the east of the Damrak in one of the oldest parts of the city. In the company of an experienced local guide we’ll stroll down dark alleys, past ancient monuments and dingy mean streets, including the Zeedijk, once considered to be the most dangerous street in Amsterdam.



You’ll be able to see the prostitutes displaying their charms in illuminated windows in a disarmingly domestic setting, often knitting or adjusting their make-up. Although once decidedly edgy, the area is now completely safe. Marauding gangs of sailors are now a thing of the past, thanks to the disappearance of the harbour and the area is now packed with lively Dutch pubs and restaurants instead of the dodgy dives of yesteryear.
