Program details

Get to know the Pacific Northwest’s rugged Olympic National Park in this full day trip. Hike through some of most ancient old growth forests in the US as then discover pristine secluded beaches. Learn all about the local ecosystems at the Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge, then climb to Hurricane Ridge by 4WD for unforgettable vistas of jagged peaks, alpine meadows, and the ocean.

The tour is accompanied by an experienced naturalist and the numbers are limited reducing the impact on this mountain wilderness. You’ll leave Seattle in a luxury mini-bus and head for the Olympic National Park, on the Olympic Peninsula, a veritable microcosm of Northwest ecosystems. You’ll will find remote beaches, some of the oldest forests in the US and the magnificent Olympic Mountains.

There will be plenty of photo stops along the way as well as a few breaks for short nature walks. Next we’ll walk out on a narrow sand spit towards an atmos-pheric lighthouse. In the spring and early summer you’ll be able to observe thou-sands of migrating seabirds who come to nest in the shallow waters of the lagoon.

Next we’ll make the climb to Hurricane Ridge. At an elevation of over 1500m this mountain fastness offers you unforgettable 360 degree views of the jagged peaks of the Olympic Mountains, the glistening Pacific Ocean and the San Juan Islands. Black Bears, Coyotes and the Mountain Lion are all a common sight in this area and over 16 species of flora and fauna are only found in the park. In winter when the park is often snowbound you may have to use snowshoes for part of the trek.
