Spend a memorable morning among the locals exploring the colourful and endlessly varied districts of Kowloon. The sights, sounds and smells of Kowloon’s bustling street life help to make this a unique experience that will imprint itself indelibly on your mind.
Setting off from TsimShaTsui on the open-topped ‘Big Bus’, you can sit back and enjoy the views of this teeming part of Hong Kong from your lofty vantage point. We disembark at Mong Kok, described by the Guinness World Records as the busiest district in the world, with 130,000 people crammed into every square kilometre of space. Mong Kok is almost unique in Hong Kong in preserving its traditional characteristics, with an array of markets, small shops and food stalls that elsewhere in the territory have been swept away by the economic developments that have taken place . Outstanding among the markets are Flower Market Road, famous for its colourful floral displays, Yuen Po Street Bird Garden and Goldfish Street, where dozens of shops and hawkers sell a dazzling range of tropical fish. The area is also a paradise for aficionados of electronic gadgetry of all kinds, with a vast range of shopping plazas and specialist outlets to choose from. Strolling through the back streets of this vibrant neighbourhood is the perfect way to immerse yourself in the culture of the local Hong Kong residents.
Our tour ends with a refreshing cup of Hong Kong-style tea or coffee and a pastry in a local café – you will probably feel you have earned it!
