Program details
Learn how to cook up a storm with a three hour tour and Turkish cookery class using traditional and local products from the ancient region of Anatolia: Cappadocia. Prepare typical dishes such as flat bread, grapes and “pezek” and witness how culinary attitudes have not changed since the nomadic period.Traditional food from Cappadocia uses ingredients exclusively from the region, such as potatoes, lentils, squash, wheat, chickpeas and beans to create dishes that are symbolic of Turkey: stuffed vine leaves, yoghurt soup and spicy red lentil patties. Grape molasses and pickles are also widely prepared and are an inherent part of Cappadocian cuisine.
Cappadocia is characterised by fairy chimneys and a rich cultural and historical heritage, of which cuisine forms an important part; still using traditional cooking utensils and tools, such as earthenware pots and the tandour. With this tour and cookery class you will experience the highlights of Cappadocia and learn about the unique heritage of this fascinating region through food. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy a traditional Turkish coffee at the end of the tour.
