During the popular annual competition during May, the courtyards open their doors to the public, however for the rest of the year they remain closed. If you visit the city outside of these dates, then this tour will open up the doors just for you. We visit five popular houses that have won several prizes during the annual competition, and will therefore show you the best and prettiest of the courtyards not to be missed.



Cordoba’s courtyards are on Unesco’s List of Intangible Heritage of Humanity since 2012, and during the tour you’ll find out why the courtyards played a great role in the history and culture of the city. Most of the courtyards feature a fountain in the middle in order to cool the summer heat, and each was adapted to the needs of the house. Each has its own distinctive character, with colourful flowers and plants decorating their walls, and you’ll be amazed how pretty and ornate these courtyards are. The courtyard caretakers have poured their heart and soul into these peaceful pockets in the heart of the city, and this is your opportunity to learn about and admire Cordoba’s hidden treasures.
