If you’re dying to see the city in all its old-school glory, you can’t afford to miss a walk through the famous Jewish neighbourhood which dates back as far as Roman times. It is best known due to the fact that it was inhabited by a multitude of Jews between the 10th and the 15th century. Check out all that exists within the area, from the monuments to the streets that house them. It’s not hard to tell why this is one of the most visited spots in the city.
Right in the thick of Judería, you will stumble across the symbolic Synagogue which is not only a real gem to the city but has witnessed some of the most noted historical events that have gone on in Cordoba. You will be told all about the main features of the beautiful building as well as hearing about the many different ways in which this place has been used by the people.
Practically a stone’s throw away stands the other incredible icon, the Mezquita-catedral de Córdoba. This is by far the most important Islamic monument in this neck of the woods. On top of that, it has stood the test of time and thus remains as one of the most magnificent Mosques in the world. When you set your eyes on what’s inside, you soon come to know so much about the history without picking up a single book, as they say a picture paints a thousand words. The Mosque manages to showcase the best of Islamic, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles all in one place which is reason enough to pay it a visit.
