Program details
If you’re looking to make the most of your stay in San Diego then why not try this three-in-one nature adventure? Cycle from the summit of Mount Soledad down to the ocean in the La Jolla Plunge Bike Tour, explore the pristine coastline north of San Diego in the La Jolla Sea Caves Kayak Tour and then go on a guided trek around the Torrey Pines Nature Reserve with its abundant flora and wildlife.
In the La Jolla plunge you’ll start at the summit of Mount Soledad where you can enjoy amazing views of the San Diego coastline and sometimes as far as neighbouring Mexico. Then it’s time to jump onto a custom-fitted MTB and start the descent at your own pace. There’s plenty to see on the way down and we’ll stop to admire the views down onto some of La Jolla’s most famous landmarks, including the Cove and Ecological Reserve and the Sea Lion Rookery.
Next board a kayak and paddle out to sea from La Jolla Shore. You’ll cross magical kelp forests, passing secluded caves and incredible rock formations. The marine life around here is abundant and sea lions, dolphins, harbour seals, bat rays, and harmless leopard sharks are all a common sight in these waters.
The day will end with a guided hike around Torrey Pines State Reserve. On this rugged clifftop plateau you will be impressed by the wind-bent trees, abstract sandstone formations, the wide variety of wildflowers and the wild Pacific Ocean far below.
Participants must be 14 years or older and must be able to swim. No kayaking experience necessary, but tour requires some physical strength. Bike tour is suitable for nearly all biking abilities. Guides are expert naturalists with backgrounds in marine biology, ecology, environmental science photography, and outdoor recreation, and CPR/First Aid.
