Embrace Guangzhou fascinating historical and cultural heritage with this half-day city tour that takes in the city’s popular landmarks and attractions as you experience all that Guangzhou has to offer. Guangzhou (formerly known as Canton) is an intoxicating metropolis situated just across the water from the bright lights of Hong Kong.
Begin your odyssey at the famous Yuexiu Park, a glorious natural environment and the city’s largest park. Singing birds will accompany you, as you meander down tree-lined walkways that run alongside peaceful lakes dotted with charming pavilions and bridges. You will visit the park’s top attraction, the Five Rams stone sculpture. Icon of Guangzhou, it pays homage to a legend dating back over 2,000 years, to a time when the city was wracked with famine and suffering. It was then, that five immortal beings allegedly arrived on the back of five rams to save the city, granting wealth and prosperity to all of its inhabitants, before turning into stone.
The park also boasts the eye-catching red and green tiled Zhenhai Tower. Also known as the Five-Story Tower, it is now home to the Guangzhou Museum, and displays a treasure trove of artefacts that reveal the story of the city.
Continue to Chen Clan Temple, which houses the Guangdong Museum of Folk Arts. To conclude your tour you will visit a ceramic and porcelain centre where you can appreciate and witness first-hand the beautiful handicraft and workmanship of the region.
