Program details
Palawan Island, an impressive natural place comprised of over 1,200 islands and islets, is a nature lover’s paradise, offering beautiful beaches, majestic mountains and remarkable rainforests teeming with wildlife. When you want to take a rest from this natural paradise, why not take advantage of our tour to the island’s capital city Puerto Princesa.
Start out your journey by riding down Puerto Princesa’s main street Rizal Avenue, which goes right into the heart of the city’s commercial core. Mendoza Mini Park, which contains the local Palawan Museum, appears along the way. This public space pays homage to fallen American soldiers during World War II who perished at the hand of the Japanese. St. Lourdes Wharf and the Port Area follow next on our itinerary. Enjoy the privileged view of the Sula Sea from here as well as Honda Bay, a gorgeous place with crystal-blue waters and islands that sometimes consist of just a sliver of sand.
Brief stops are made along the way at different sites around the city: the State College Museum, a crocodile farm and a market. However, two stops deserve special mentioning. Discover a facility where a local organization is carrying out an ambitious fashion project that combines pineapple fibre and silk. Afterwards, experience something truly out-of-the-ordinary by getting to know the lwahig Penal Colony. Known as the ''prison without walls'', this intriguing village serves as a home for prisoners released on good behaviour where they live with their families and work on a farm.
