Program details
Put on your Indiana Jones hat and explore one of the most important archaeological sites in Turkey on this half-day guided tour. Despite the vast size of the area that has been dug up, it’s still hard today to envisage that Ephesus was a classical metropolis of 250,000 people, second only to Rome in the ancient world.
The many acres carefully excavated zones reveal the ancient splendour of this once-thriving city, which was the most important in Asia Minor throughout several civilisations. Ephesus is a treasure trove of ruins that include one of the seven wonders of the ancient world and the last home of the Virgin Mary. This full-day tour will allow you to explore this vast outdoor museum that has been at the crossroads of history for thousands of years.
Learn all about this magnificent city as you stroll along the Marble Street, see the Odeon theatre, the Bouleuterion, the Temple of Hadrian and Serapis, the Agoras, the Library of Celsus, the Great Theatre – believed to have been the largest in the ancient world - the Double Church, the Arcadian Way, the Gate of Magnesia, the brothel and much more. There will also be a visit to a ceramic shop at the end of the tour.
