Make a pilgrimage to two of Australia’s most special attractions with this intriguing full day tour that combines history with nature. Visit the town that is home to the country’s only Benedictine Abbey and then head out into the Martian landscape of the world-famous Pinnacles.
Drive through Guildford, the Swan Valley wine region and the orange-growing district of Bindoon to reach New Norcia. Founded by Spanish monks in 1846 as a mission to the region's aborigines, it is home to Australia’s only Benedictine Abbey. Learn of the intriguing history and culture of the community, the architecture of which has distinctly Iberian feel, before stopping for morning tea (not included). Visit a local shop for the chance to purchase Benedictine Community goods including olive oil, fruit wine, nut cake and fresh breads. Alternatively, visit the museum and art gallery (not included).
Continue to the Western Wildflower Farm for a brief guided tour of how wildflowers are preserved for export before enjoying a picnic lunch. There’s more to see at the rock lobster fishing village of Cervantes. End on a high with a guided walk through the Nambung National Park, home of the Pinnacles desert to admire its famed unusual limestone formations. Between August and December, additional stops to view wildflowers will be made en route.
