Program details
This spectacular kayak tour takes you down the Yarra River through the centre of Melbourne to enjoy all the impressive sights of the world’s most liveable city. Highlights include the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Flinders Station, South Bank, the Polly Woodside tall ship and Docklands. This is a stunning way to check out the major sights of Melbourne from a unique water-level perspective.
After a quick briefing and paddling lesson, you will get kitted up and head downriver under the Princes Bridge and into the heart of Melbourne. Continue along the Yarra past Flinders Street Station and paddle up to get a close look of the iconic Polly Woodside tall ship at South Wharf. A National Trust tourist attraction, the 130-year-old Polly Woodside tall ship is a wonderful sight to behold, especially from the water. She had a long and productive career on the high seas that ended only in the 1960s. Then enter the Docklands precinct and the beautiful Yarra’s Edge Marina. After a short break, head back upstream past the Crown Casino and the lively South Bank district before finishing back at Boathouse Drive.
This tour is perfect for younger paddlers who can team up with Mum or Dad, or one of the guides. No paddling experience is necessary. The guides will be with you every stroke of the way. With a fleet of extremely stable Sea Bear kayaks, the experience will even be easy for first-time paddlers.
