Program details
Green Island offers the rare opportunity for a combined reef and rainforest experience. The Green Island Discovery tour includes a cruise aboard an air-conditioned fast catamaran, the use of snorkelling equipment, glass-bottom boat coral viewing tour, a self-guided Eco Island Walk, the use of the island swimming pool, morning tea and more.
Just 27km across the Coral Sea from Cairns awaits tropical Green Island - a beautiful 6,000-year-old coral cay in the Great Barrier Reef. Home to more than 120 native plant species and colourful bird life, it is surrounded by coral gardens and abundant marine life to explore. Try some snorkelling to discover the rich coral life or view the marine life with a glass-bottom boat coral viewing tour. You have the possibility to see colourful fish, sea turtles, giant clams, starfish, shells, anemones, eels, sponges, sea urchins and many more incredible marine creatures. Take a walk around the island through the lush rainforest on a self-guided walk. The circumference of the island is just 1.5km so you can comfortably walk it within 20 minutes while learning of the many plants and animals that live upon the island. Green Island attracts a wide range of birds, including land birds, seabirds and migratory birds numbering over 55 species.
