Program details

Join a voyage to the paradisiacal Frankland Islands for an unsurpassed tropical and desert island adventure without the crowds. Here you can enjoy pristine snorkelling and diving or a ride in a glass bottom boat to observe the amazing coral reefs that are found surrounding these islands.

The Frankland Islands located just south of Cairns are part sand and part continental islands. They present as the perfect image of a tropical island with white sandy beaches and crystal clear azure waters surrounded by rich coral reefs. After a cruise along the Mulgrave River with commentary from your guide, you travel 10km out to sea to reach the Frankland Island Sector comprising five continental islands. Upon reaching the islands you have a choice of several activities. For those wishing to get a close look at the rich and diverse marine life of the coral reefs there is snorkelling and diving possibilities with a marine biologist.

Alternatively there is a tour in a semi-submersible or glass bottom boat for coral viewing as an optional extra. Learn about the amazing wildlife on the islands with a guided island ecology walk and rock pools tour. The islands are home to a number of bird species, including the little tern (Sterna albifrons), the beach stone-curlew (Esacus neglectus), the pied imperial pigeon (Ducula bicolor) and the crested tern (Sterna bergii). The Frankland Islands are also teeming with permanent & migratory marine life, especially the green turtle which nests on the islands.
