Program details
Sightsee like you’ve never sightseen before on this cycling tour of Xi’an. This is no conventional bike tour, where you pedal through the city from landmark to landmark; here you will discover Xi’an from above, by cycling along the timeless and well-preserved old city walls. This historic defensive bastion is without a shadow of a doubt one of the most important landmarks in this beautiful city. So what better way to discover it than by actually interacting with it and turning it into the track for your tour?
As you approach the wall, you will appreciate the feat of its preservation as it is one of the oldest and best conserved in all of China – a country that has quite a bit to say with regard to preserving historic great walls. Begin your tour by ascending to the top of the gate, then hop onto the saddle and peddle away.
After exploring various parts of the wall, you will descend and head into Shuyuanmen Street. This famous road is most renowned for its little shops that sell traditional Chinese art products; a very interesting and colourful corner to ramble through. Later on, explore an astounding Buddhist Temple. The building dates back more than 1,800 years and is very popular among the locals – you might see quite a few of them flocking towards it. Recover your energy by wrapping up the day with a traditional Chinese meal at a local restaurant, surely the best way to end a cycling tour in China.
