Program details
A trip to the charming Ubud is an excellent way to gain an understanding of art and culture in Bali. Begin your exploration with a visit to the center of Ubud village where we find the Ubud art market. It displays various crafts and paintings produced by nearby villagers. Puri Saren is just across the street where we can enjoy the beautiful Balinese traditional houses and the Ubud Kingdom Palace founded by Ida Tjokorda Putu Kandel. The palace is an artistic cultural center while the traditional market is the place of local economics. The Puri Saren features a Wantilan/auditorium and a banyan tree as part of the attraction. Tampak Siring is the next stop that you simply cannot resist. One of the most popular attractions in Bali, the haven of the holy spring called Tirta Empul is believed to have been made by Indra when he pierced the earth to create a spring of amerta, the source of immortality used to revive Indra’s forces poisoned by Mayadanawa. You guide will explain all of the stories while you admire the sights. The holy spring temple is a place to purify our self from the bad influences in life where we can discover the traditional showers sourced from the springs at this temple. In the past, Tampaksiring was one of the governance centers in Bali during the kingdom period. Stare in awe at the rock-cut candi (shrines) carved into the cliff face at the Gunung Kawi temple. On the return journey we shall stop at an authentic Batuan village to visit a traditional house. A special highlight that also makes for a joyful end to the day´s adventure is a visit to the Tohpati village to see the arts of the hand painted batiks. This cultural and spiritual tour of Ubud and Tampaksiring will give you the chance to stroll around picturesque monuments while taking in the history and culture that makes this place so special.
