Take in the rich and diverse culture of the Jewish Quarter, drive to the Royal Castle and Cathedral atop Wawel Hill and stroll through Krakow’s picturesque streets, filled with history and character. Visit the Great College of the Academia of Cracoviensis and proceed to check out the main market square and the stunning medieval altar at St. Mary’s Church.
Begin your memorable tour with a stroll through Kazimierz, Krakow’s historic Jewish Quarter. The centre of Jewish life for over 500 years before it was destroyed in the Second World War, the area underwent something of a regeneration in the nineties and today is possibly the city’s most vibrant and enchanting neighbourhoods. It was also the location used for much of Steven Spielberg’s 1993 film Schindler’s List.
Take a short drive from Kazimierz up the Wawel Hill, forever tied to the former Polish monarchy. It was in the Royal Castle and Cathedral at its summit that many lavish royal coronations and funerals were celebrated. Descend the hill on foot and stroll along the charming Kanonizca and Grodzka Streets to the Great College of the Academia Cracoviensis. Admire its spectacular Gothic courtyard before proceeding to the heart of the city to the Main Market Square. Hunt for souvenirs and bargains before ending your tour at the medieval St. Mary’s Church with its impressive altar.
