Meet for
dinner at the Augustinerkeller, Albertinaplatz in the old town. This historic restaurant is located in a cellar that was part of the city’s ancient fortifications. It is famed for its traditional Viennese cuisine and lively atmosphere, which is as redolent ‘old Vienna’ as you can get, with glamour and easy charm. After dinner you will be transferred to the music venue, which is usually the historic Kursalon in the City Park though occasionally they are held at the majestic Musikverein or other halls.
The Kursalon opened in 1868 and, fittingly, the first concert featured compositions by Johann Strauss. Almost instantly the Kursalon became the place to be for Viennese society, which speaks volumes in a city with such a cultural repertoire.
The concerts are usually performed in the elegant Salonorchester Alt Wien room. The programmes vary but you can expect to see a mixed programme of Strauss and Mozart with ballet, tenors and sopranos. Pieces such as Strauss’ Voices of Spring and the overture to Mozart’s opera, the Marriage of Figaro, often feature. A number of arias will also be performed and these are chosen closer to the event from any of the many wonderful pieces from Vienna's unbeatable musical history.

Duration: Three hours.
